Moto: Love, Joy, and Service

Beginnings: In the year 1978 S.V.D Priests working in Medak District (A.P. Archdiocese of Hyderabad) invited the JMJ sisters to collaborate with them in the work of evangelization.

Medak district is one of the most backward districts in Telangana Andhra Pradesh. The JMJs were looking forward to extend their services to backward areas where Christian influence had not yet reached.  This collaboration was to be a starting point to get to know the place and the people.  The JMJs are trying to reach the most neglected corners and making themselves available to the needs of the area.  The Catholics migrated from coastal Andhra were completely left to themselves and grew weak in faith.  People (even Catholics) believed in black magic, witchcraft and superstitions.  There was no Church in the villages except in one or two places.  The pioneering sisters had no proper residence and no proper means of transport and the sisters had to walk a good distance in the hot sun very often.

The persistent, persevering and undaunted determination of the sisters brought to go forward in the mission of evangelization. With regular visits to villages, conducting prayer meetings, breaking the Word of God, instructing in religion and indentifying themselves with the locals, their needs, living with them, our sisters could win the good will of the people.

In 1979 for the school-going age girls from villages, the SVD priests arranged boarding home and lodging facility in Gajwel. The children were sent to the local government school.  M.J. Sisters were in charge of the boarding home.

In the year 1983 a Telugu Medium High School is started, the first Christian School in Gajwel. We had 120 children studying from 1st to 5th standard and later on it is upgraded into High School.  Now we have very committed and dedicated staff.  Only the classes from 6th to 10th is aided, where the salaries of the staff are paid by the government & salaries for elementary school staff and all other expenses and facilities have to be provided by the management/sisters. The school is functioning very satisfactorily, with good academic standards and has changed the image of Gajwel for good.

In the year 2014, the management felt the need of starting English Medium parallel to Telugu Medium.  From the humble beginning we made in 1983 having crossed 37 memorable mile stones, today our school has face LIFT  towards value oriented education for our students, teachers, and parents alike. We started the English Medium with modern facilities and innovative methods – Joyful learning. It is the vision of our Pioneer sisters who worked tirelessly and the hard work of our correspondents, principles, staff and the well wishers.  At present we have 600 students coming from 24 different remote villages nearby.  Our motto is to reach out to the unreached in giving quality education.

In this School Profile, you come across our new endeavors in various directions. Apart from academics we have ensured the participation of the student in all school activities where they can do their best in all the areas. As educator it is our duty to stimulate our student’s curiosity and help them to be a lifelong learner.

Our Vision

The vision of the school is to provide all round education and nurture a child’s innate curiosity and train the child intellectually, morally and socially to achieve excellence in life.

Our Mission

We train youngsters to face the challenges of personal and social life by providing them quality education at affordable cost. We teach and guide our students through various programs to become liberated individuals who will be the pride of our great nation INDIA.

FRONTIER MISSION

“Great things happen when God mixes with us”

Yes, this is true to our St. Joseph’s High School, Gajwel.  As the years pass by various changes have taken place in the education system all over Telangana State.    There was drastic fall of the strength in the Private sector.  But we the JMJ sisters keep in our heart the origin of the founding school in Gajwel.  So, we have taken the elementary school children as St. Joseph’s target children with full free of cost, giving them a bright future for their all round development.  In the academic year 2020-2021 these targeted children are merged into English Medium, which is our Frontier Mission – to be at the side of the poor and backward girl children.
