Our Founder

Rev. Fr. Mathias Wolff S.J. was born in Luxemburg at the end of the 18 century. He founded the Society of Jesus Mary Joseph (J.M.J.) in the year 1822, Holland, to emancipate the Church in the Netherlands.
His ministry focused on the liberation of the Catholics of his time. Fr.Mathias Wolff summed up his life in the words, “Always ready for souls and I want to labour as a giant”, for the liberation of the oppressed, poor, voiceless and marginalized. His Charism is Ever Adaptable Apostolic Availability. In keeping with the Charism, the sisters of J.M.J are invited to be flexible to adapt and avail themselves, in carrying out its ministries to the needs of the Church and in Solidarity with the world.
